Concept
A measurement records the result of a examination of a physiological characteristic of the patient. A measurement is performed on the patient. Measurements performed on specimen taken from a patient are not included.
This is a template for information models For actual use, meaningful element names and value set concepts must be defined for derived HCIM's
Purpose
The measurement and documentation of physiological observations are an important tool for evaluating a patient condition.

[Measurement]
Root concept of the [Measurement] information model. This root concept contains all data elements of the [Measurement] template.

NL-CM:21.1.3
[MeasurementName]
0..1
Name of the measurement as coded description (name and code). In single measurements, this value is assigned to the rootconcept. However, if there are several variations of the measurement that are carried out under the same circumstances (measurement method, conditions, etc.), a (mini) category HCIM can be created with the associated code list.

NL-CM:21.1.4
[MeasurementValue]
1..*
The result of the measurement. Depending on the type of measurement, this can be a numerical value, an ordinal value, a coded description or even a textual result. A measurement may result in more than one result or observation that may also differ in type, e.g. heart rate frequency and regularity.

MeasurementMethod
0..1
The way in which the measurement was carried out and the method used.

[MeasurementAncillary]
0..*
Ancillary item that was used in the measurement. It describes a more detailed specification of the measurement method.

Comment
0..1
A comment about the result or the execution of the measurement. It may e.g. include statements about significant, unexpected or unreliable values, or information about the source of the value where this may be relevant to the interpretation of the result.

Instructions
With this template, single HCIMs can be made that model one measurement with one or more results. If a HCIM has to model more than one measurement, a model will have to be chosen where this template occurs more than once.
